Crimi AU- Reid is a spy that got burned.

He doesn’t know who ordered the hit, or who carried it out. But he does know that there was a body found in his living room, his fingerprints on the gun- and  he’d had nothing to do with it. Maybe he shouldn’t have run, but he knows that was the only thing keeping him from disappearing into the system. He also knows how to find out who was behind this, and that makes him a target again.

“I didn’t do this, Hotch,” He says into the disposable cell; he’ll have to make this quick before Garcia can track him down.

“I want to believe you, Reid,” Hotch says, “But all the evidence is there. Prentiss was a cop, Reid, people aren’t just going to let that go.”

“I didn’t kill her, and I’m going to find out who set me up,” He says fiercely, “I’ve already got a trail- you better hope you’re not on the other end of it,”

He dumps the cell and heads for the one place they’ll never look for him. His father’s house.

Reid knows he’s dealing with a professional because he doesn’t wake up until there’s a hand pressed to his mouth. He wakes with a start to find himself staring down the barrel of a gun, something he’d become sadly familiar with over the last week. The man standing over him places a finger over his lips, then lowers the gun.

“My name is Derek Morgan,” the man says, “I’m here to help you.”

“Help me? With what? Who do you work for?”

“That’s not important. What is important is that we know who set you up, and we want to get to them as much as you do,”

“Why should I trust you,” Reid says bluntly, because years of training don’t just go away.

“You don’t really have much choice now, do you.”

And it’s true. All of his contacts are either dead or untrustworthy, he’s completely cut off.

“What do you want me to do?”
